Eco-efficient RTGs - Smart design choices and hybrid options.

Eco-efficient RTGs - Smart design choices and hybrid options.
As the drive to improve environmental performance at container terminals continues to gather pace, operators are faced with several choices when it comes to expanding or renewing their rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) crane fleets in order to achieve sustainability gains. With smart choices on both the crane base design and energy systems, the crane's eco-efficiency can be improved considerably. Modern hybrid cranes, either diesel-hybrid or E-RTGs with a battery pack can provide operational flexibility with low energy consumption and emissions.

3 key takeaways from this webinar

  1. Basic RTG design choices can have a big impact on the eco-efficiency of cranes.
  2. Available energy system alternatives for different operational environments.
  3. Hybrid systems can lower the energy consumption and emissions considerably or even provide Zero Emissions locally, while maintaining high performance and operational flexibility.
